Soft washing is a low-pressure cleaning method that uses specialist solutions rather than high-pressure water alone to remove algae, moss, lichen and grime from external surfaces. It’s a gentler alternative to pressure washing, making it well suited to render, cladding, roofing and other surfaces that could be damaged by high pressure.
Where Soft Washing Helps
Because it doesn’t rely on high pressure, soft washing is often the safer choice for delicate or older surfaces, and it can also reach into gaps and textures that pressure washing might miss, giving a more thorough clean.
How Soft Washing Works
Rather than relying on high pressure, soft washing uses a specialist cleaning solution – typically a mix of biodegradable detergents and biocides – applied at low pressure to break down algae, moss, lichen and grime at the root. The solution is left to work before being rinsed away, killing off organic growth rather than just blasting it off the surface, which can also help slow down how quickly it returns compared to pressure washing alone.
