Tarmac driveways are durable and low-maintenance, but they aren’t immune to wear – potholes, cracking, sunken patches and fading colour are all common over time, particularly on older surfaces or those that have seen heavy use. Our tarmac service covers patch repairs and colour restoration, addressing damage and refreshing the surface’s appearance without the cost of a full replacement.

Common Tarmac Issues

Cracks and potholes usually start small but can worsen quickly once water gets into the base beneath the surface, especially through freeze-thaw cycles over winter. Fading and a grey, sun-bleached appearance are also common on older tarmac, even where the surface itself is still structurally sound.

Patch Repairs & Colour Restoration

Patch repairs typically involve cutting out the damaged section, addressing the base beneath it, and reinstating fresh tarmac to blend with the surrounding surface. Where the whole driveway has simply faded rather than being damaged, a tarmac colour restoration/rejuvenation product can be applied to darken and refresh the surface, giving it a newer appearance without any excavation work.
